Proverbs
Trace and research a particular theme through the book in order to teach the class about the theme you have chosen, and instruct us how we can live wisely and skillfully handle life.
Project Due Date: Written- March 13 (block D), March 14 (block G)
Presentations Start- April 11 (block G), April 10 (block D)
1. Select a general theme from the ones presented in class to study (create a title page using this theme).
2. Carefully read through the book of Proverbs. As you read, take note of whenever something specific is said regarding your general theme. Write down or record in some way each occurrence (chapter & verse) that relates to your theme. Keep an accurate list of every occurrence related to your theme.
3. Make a full script of all your verses related to your theme.
4. Next, analyze your list of verses and group them into categories under your general theme.
5. Choose two categories under your general theme that you will focus on more extensively. With the use of all the Bible study resources available to you, thoroughly study the verses (at least 6 from each) from the two categories you have chosen. To be thorough you will need to do some responsible Bible study: read commentaries, word studies (see attached sheet), historical-cultural background, other translations and other resources. After very clearly, thoroughly and accurately explaining the meaning and intent of your verses in the categories, make a clear connection of this category & theme to everyday life in 2012 in general and how YOU specifically are implicated in the truth of these verses/theme.
6. Create 2 unique multimedia (not just PowerPoint or You Tube) presentations/tutorials that teach & explain and illustrate & reveal these categories of your theme. The presentations should be solidly rooted to the text Biblically and connected to our contemporary culture. Your job is to share the ‘fruit’ of your study and help others in the class learn how to live wisely and skillfully handle life, don’t get distracted, keep it balanced. Please note that the point is to highlight the virtue not the vice. You will present two categories on two different days, which you will sign up for. Each presentation should be between 20-25 minutes. You MUST be sure to test all your equipment prior to your presentation.
DO > be as creative, original, clear and accurate as possible.
DO NOT > just use someone else’s You Tube vid and make that your presentation, or slap together a stale boring PowerPoint slide show.
7. Your written work from #1 (Title Page) through #5 above should be typed (double-spaced, 12pt font) and turned in on the due date. The grade you receive will be based on your study’s thoroughness, organization, accuracy, read-ability, clear use of study resources, and connectedness to everyday life (corporate & personal) in 2012.
